Designed by William Morris in 1884, Cray is one of Morris s most complex patterns. It was also one of the most expensive to produce, requiring 34 separate printing blocks. Cray belongs to a series of River chintzes Morris created in the early 1880s inspired by a boating expedition along the Thames in the summer of 1880.
